These materials are entirely hand worked with only few electric tools

Englishman Samuel Henshall received the first patent for a corkscrew in 1795. The tool consisted of a pointed metallic helix attached to a handle and a small disc placed between the two parts to prevent the helix from going too deep into the cork.
