In Italy, the year 1728 marked the beginning of selling wine in glass bottles. Until then, the wine was stored in barrels or kegs and the bottles were only used opened to move it from the wine cellar to the table. From that moment, it became necessary to find a system to seal the bottles during transport and to unseal them once on the table.
